DIME Sample ID and DIME Test ID

The DIME Sample ID and the DIME test ID are used to uniquely identify a sample and a test, respectively. When a new sample or a new test is submitted to DIME, it is important to note the DIME Sample ID and the DIME Test ID given by DIME.

DIME Sample ID

The DIME Sample ID is a combination of digits based on the date the sample was taken and a system generated date‐based Sequence Number. Examples below:

Sample Taken Date Sequence Number on Date Generated Sample ID
2020-07-02 1 2020-07-02‐1
2020-07-02 2 2020-07-02‐2
2020-07-02 3 2020-07-02‐3
2020-07-03 1 2020-07-03‐1
2020-07-03 2 2020-07-03‐2

DIME Test ID

Each sample may undergo multiple tests. To identify each test, an additional test number will be appended to the end of the DIME Sample ID to make up for the DIME Test ID. The format and a few examples of the DIME Sample ID and DIME Test ID are shown below.
